Professor Franco Modigliani is Institute Professor Emeritus at the Alfred P. Sloan School of Management of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a contributor to many different areas of economics and finance, such as monetary theory, capital markets, corporation finance, public finance, international economics and macroeconomics.  In 1985, he was awarded the James R. Kilian Faculty Achievement Award from MIT.  In October 1985, he was awarded the Alfred  Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Science.  The Franco Modigliani Professorship of Financial Economics at MIT, an endowed chair, was established in March 1995 to permanently recognize Dr. Modigliani's mutliple contributions in the field.
