While much of the world ignores reporting net returns to their prospective clients, this is mandated in some countries, such as the United States, if gross returns are reported. But net returns can be confusing and challenging. The author suggests adopting a statistic that was part of the AIMR-PPS®, but never made its way into the GIPS® standards. He encourages compliant firms to adopt it.
